Community College of Aurora Hosts CHE and CDHE Educator Financial Aid Training

Earlier this week, the Community College of Aurora was honored to host the State of Colorado Department of Higher Education and Colorado Department of Education Financial Aid Training. Dr. Mordecai welcomed attendees and spoke about how critical HB22-1366 is to improving post secondary access and economic mobility in Colorado.

Colorado Freedom Memorial

On Saturday, May 27th, Dr. Mordecai was honored to represent the Community College of Aurora at the 10th Annual Colorado Freedom Memorial service. Thank you to all those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Continued prayers for the loved ones of our fallen and missing in action service members.

Brownlee Family Visits Colorado State University

This past weekend, Dr. Mordecai and his family represented the Community College of Aurora at the Colorado State University’s Spring Scrimmage Football Game.

The testimony was successful and now the house bill has moved to appropriations for further consideration. Dr. Mordecai Visits With New Consulado General de México en Denver, Pável Meléndez Cruz.

Dr, Mordecai and Consul General Cruz talked partnership, continued commitment to the IME BECAS Scholarship Program, and new synergies to transform the lives of students from Mexican descent at the Community College of Aurora.

“I feel as though an apology is necessary to the youth that are in the room,” said panelist Mordecai Brownlee, president of the Community College of Aurora. “And I want to say I’m sorry on behalf of society, for the lack of intentionality that we have shown” in addressing this issue...I believe that our youth are going to change things, I do, but we’ve got to figure out how to keep them alive so they can,” he said.

Dr. Mordecai Participates in Roundtable Discuss With Dr. Jill Biden, First Lady of the United States of America

Yesterday, Dr. Mordecai had the honor of participating in a roundtable discussion with Dr. Jill Biden, First Lady of the United States of America. Care Forward Colorado has enabled the Community College of Aurora to provide more than $250,000 in tuition, fees, and supplies to students seeking careers in critical healthcare professions. As a whole, community colleges stand at the frontlines of the fight to promote equitable social and economic mobility.
